Tom Brady's strange new contract extension with the New England Patriots makes him a free agent after the 2019 season, but the general consensus is that the quarterback won't be going anywhere…or will he?
Brady's deal with the Patriots also coincides with he and his wife, Gisele Bundchen, putting their Massachusetts house up for sale, but the future Hall-of-Famer says it doesn't mean anything:
“You shouldn't read into anything,” Brady said on The Greg Hill Show on WEEI. “I think it takes a long time to sell a house. My house is a little bit of an expensive one, so it doesn't fly off the shelf in a couple weeks.”
The 42-year-old added that he simply has a lot going on in general:
Article Continues Below“I think I'm at a point in my life where there's a lot of considerations that go into playing,” said Brady. “I have a very busy professional life, I have a very busy personal life. Any decision that's made has to consider everything. I'm certainly at a place where I've been in the same place for a long time, and I love playing for the Patriots. I have such a great relationship with Mr. [Robert] Kraft, Coach [Bill] Belichick and our team. We'll just worry about that when that happens. This isn't the time to worry about it.”
Brady is entering is 20th NFL season, all of which have come with the Pats. He has gone on to win six Super Bowls since taking over as the Patriots' starting quarterback in 2001, two more than any other signal-caller in NFL history.
The San Mateo, Ca. native is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he threw for 4,355 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 65.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 97.7, making the Pro Bowl and leading New England to a championship.
