New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was limited in practice ahead of his team's game against the New York Jets last week due to a calf issue, and on Wednesday, he was only a partial participant again due to the same problem.
Brady appeared to be just fine on Sunday, as he completed 28 of his 42 passes for 306 yards and a couple of touchdowns in what ended up being a 30-14 win. However, he says his age does not allow him to go all out in practice anymore:
“Football is a contact sport,” Brady said, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. “I wouldn’t say I’m a spring chicken anymore. I’m trying to just feel as great as I can and we’ll see how it goes tomorrow. But I feel pretty good.”
At 42 years old, Brady is right: he is certainly no longer a “spring chicken,” and the Patriots even signed fellow quarterback Cody Kessler to get in some reps with the team in practice this week.

The future Hall of Famer has thrown for 911 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 67.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 116.5, helping New England get to 3-0.
Brady is coming off a 2018 campaign in which he finished with 4,355 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, completing 65.8 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 97.7 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. Most importantly, he led the Pats to their sixth Super Bowl title.
The Patriots will head on the road to take on the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.
