The New England Patriots came up short against the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Wild Card Game. As a result, there is plenty of speculation regarding the future of Tom Brady.
Tom Brady is set to hit the market as a free agent this offseason. He made it clear that he was unsure whether or not he will be back with the Patriots, via CBS Sports:
“I don’t know what the future looks like, and I’m not going to predict it.”
The prospect of Tom Brady leaving New England had seemed extremely far-fetched considering the team had just won its sixth championship with him under center last year. Regardless, it has become evident that the situation is still largely up in the air.
Brady's comments make it clear that he is planning on another season of action. He has not been shy about expressing his desire to play until the age of 45. Although the 42-year-old may be nearing his timeline, it seems he still has some gas left in the tank.
It is no secret that the Patriots are coming off a disappointing 2019 NFL season, especially on the offensive side of the ball. While Tom Brady certainly endured his fair share of struggles, his shortcomings can be attributed to a severe lack of firepower. If the veteran were to depart in free agency, this would leave yet another huge void for them to fill on offense.
It will be interesting to see just how determined both sides are to keep this historic tenure going.
