After being released by the Cleveland Browns, Odell Beckham Jr. hit the waiver wire. Nobody claimed him and now the star wide receiver is free to sign wherever he's offered. With multiple teams rumored to be interested, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots seem to be doing what they can to sign Beckham Jr.
According to Jordan Schultz, the “Patriots are making a ‘strong push' to sign OBJ. Belichick wants Beckham on the roster badly.” Odell Beckham Jr. signing with New England would be a shocking turn of events. The team isn't necessarily a contender, but it's not like they're out of the playoff race either.

The race seems to be between multiple franchises and the Patriots have emerged as a darkhorse. Acquiring Beckham Jr. would be massive for New England. He'd immediately become the top pass option and open up the offense a bit more for the Patriots. Having a star receiver like that could be what Mac Jones needs to take another step in his development.
This isn't a terrible destination for Beckham Jr. by any means. The Patriots have a solid run game, a plethora of complementary receivers, and a defense that keeps the team competitive. This move could be exactly what Bill Belichick needs to get the Patriots back into the playoffs.
Odell Beckham Jr. has played just six games this year. It's been an unimpressive season, as he's only reeled in 232 yards off of 17 receptions. The Browns couldn't find a way to utilize Beckham Jr., but Bill Belichick and the Patriots believe they can.
