Bill Belichick made the surprising and sudden decision to release star wide receiver Antonio Brown just ahead of the New England Patriots' Week 3 matchup against the New York Jets. After four catches for 56 yards and a touchdown last week against the Miami Dolphins, Brown has since stated that he will not play another game in the NFL due to the owners being able to cancel contracts at any time.
Reports had come out earlier in the week that Belichick was getting sick of being asked questions about Brown. That became apparent during an interview ahead of this week's game.
Belichick not only declined to answer the question, but gave the reporter a bit of a “death stare.”

Needless to say, Belichick wasn't thrilled with the question but isn't focusing on anything other than the Jets. New England is looking to go 3-0 this week and have looked dominant so far. Perhaps another Super Bowl ring will be in their near future.
Either way, Brown is now a free agent and there aren't any teams reported to have interest just yet. There is a good chance that even if he did sign a deal with another team, the NFL would step in and place him on the Commissioner's Exempt List until the investigation into sexual assault allegations against him are completed.
Brown's NFL career very well may be over. If it is, Brown was an amazing player who saw his legacy crumble due to off the field issues.
