Stefon Diggs is not happy in Minnesota. That much we know.

The Vikings have gone away from their pass-happy offense and have instead turned things over to running back Dalvin Cook, who has been brilliant this season.

But with Minnesota having a pair of dynamic receivers in Diggs and Adam Thielen, you would think the Vikings would try and utilize their aerial attack more, but that hasn't seemed possible thus far given Kirk Cousins' struggles.

Diggs has made it public knowledge that he is not thrilled with his diminishing role, even going as far to tell reporters that the rumors about his discontent were true on Thursday.

Right now, the Vikings are 2-2 and very much remain in the NFC playoff picture, but if things keep going off the rails, Minnesota may decide to trade Diggs before the Week 8 deadline.

And who would probably be first in line if such a thing occurs? The New England Patriots.

The Patriots are always looking to add more star talent, as they are always in win-now mode. They tried doing it with Antonio Brown earlier this season, so why wouldn't they attempt it with Diggs?

New England has a good receiving corps. We know how reliable Julian Edelman is, Josh Gordon is incredibly talented, Phillip Dorsett is in the middle of what could be a breakout season, and rookie N'Keal Harry is due back at some point.

Still, due to Gordon's inconsistency and the fact that both Dorsett and Harry are unproven, the Pats could still use another weapon, and Diggs would be a perfect fit.

Don't mistake Diggs for a problem child just because he is expressing some displeasure in his current role in Minnesota. The 25-year-old has, by all accounts, been a model citizen since entering the NFL in 2015.

On top of that, the kid is just flat out good.

No, he isn't Brown or Odell Beckham Jr., but he has been one of Vikings' most consistent players since he joined the league and is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he hauled in 102 receptions for 1,021 yards and nine touchdowns.

He isn't a game breaker, but he has terrific hands and is incredibly dependable.

The Patriots are 4-0 and don't appear to be in need of any help, but their abysmal offensive output in their 16-10 win over the Buffalo Bills last weekend may have been somewhat concerning.

On one hand, it was Week 4, and we know by now that Tom Brady and the Pats coast during the regular season. But, on the other side of the coin, Rob Gronkowski is no longer walking through that door, so New England's offense is not quite the same.

Most likely, the Patriots will be just fine regardless of whether or not they trade for Diggs. Again, we have seen this movie with Bill Belichick and Co. before.

But they would certainly be in better shape if they landed Diggs.

Of course, the Vikings only appear ready to move Diggs if the return is hefty, but their asking price could potentially come down the closer we get to the deadline.

If Minnesota does ultimately decide to put Diggs up for sale, you can bet that the Patriots will come calling.
