When Drew Brees left the New Orleans Saints' Week 2 game early, the city of New Orleans collectively held their breath. Enter Teddy Bridgewater in a primetime game against the Los Angeles Rams in which he did not look prepared.

Once the Saints learned that Brees would miss an extended period of time, they handed the keys to Bridgewater. A trip to Seattle was on the horizon and 1-2 seemed like a realistic possibility for one of the early season Super Bowl favorites. Bridgewater came out and quieted the critics in his first start of the season.

Bridgewater vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Saints got on the board early with their defense and special teams. New Orleans scored on a punt return and a fumble return for a touchdown. It was 13-0 early on.

Leading 13-7, the Saints got the ball back right before halftime and Bridgewater marched the Saints down the field and found Alvin Kamara for a touchdown before the break. On the first possession of the second half, Bridgewater did it again, this time to Michael Thomas.

New Orleans went into Seattle with their backup quarterback and led 27-7 early in the third quarter. The Seahawks and their fans were stunned. This game was never really close. Seattle scored to make it 27-14, but Bridgewater orchestrated an eight-play drive for a touchdown to put the game away.

Bridgewater's Grade in Week 3: B+

Bridgewater did not do anything spectacular in Week 3 against the Seahawks. He was not asked to. This is a former Pro Bowl quarterback who knows how to play the position and he showed it in this game.

The Saints' defense gave them an early lead and Bridgewater did not let it slip away. The key to his performance was not turning the ball over. He completed 19 of 27 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Bridgewater finished with no interceptions, did not fumble, and was not sacked in the game. When looking at his performance, that comes first.

Bridgewater found the best players on offense. Kamara and Thomas are two of the best at their position in the NFL. The two combined for 14 catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns against the Seahawks. This was also a major key to his success.

So to recap, no turnovers and he found his best players in a winning effort in one of the toughest places to play in the league. There were a lot of positives in this performance. The only knock is that we are still unsure of Bridgewater's ability to lead a team using his arm. We will look for this ability moving forward, but the Saints seem to be in good hands until Brees returns.
