Adrian Peterson, one of the greatest running backs of all time, is still looking for a new home and he told Josina Anderson of ESPN that he would be willing to re-join the New Orleans Saints.

This comes a day removed from Saints head coach Sean Payton saying he would be open to Adrian Peterson joining the team if the team decides to bring in another running back.

“Absolutely,” Payton said via NFL.com. “This gets back to the notion that we had some type of any (sideline) argument at Minnesota (in Week 1 of the 2017 regular season), which I still say there was none. I think a ton of him.”

Peterson signed a two year, $7 million deal last year, a few days before the Saints drafted Alvin Kamara. With Kamara and Mark Ingram, it made for a crowded backfield. The Saints eventually traded Peterson to the Arizona Cardinals where he had a cent regular season.

With the Saints he played in four games, having 27 rushing attempts for 81 yards. In six games with the Cardinals, he had 129 rushing attempts for 529 yards.

With Mark Ingram suspended for the first four games, the Saints could need a guy to fill that void for those games.

For the Saints now, they seem happy with the players they have on the roster, but if something was to change, Peterson would be in the mix.

“That would the part where if all of a sudden we decided, hey, we're going to look at additional players that are on the street,” Payton said. “And certainly his name — there'd be a few others — we have them on the board right now. Who's available, veteran running backs, stacked on a board and graded. But, listen, he's a tough player, warrior, and a great worker, and we have a good relationship.”
