Visiting Pro Football Talk Live via Michael David Smith, running back Alvin Kamara stated the loss will become a strong source of motivation for the Saints to push through the upcoming offseason.
It was a grueling loss that saw New Orleans finish just a few seconds away from reaching their first NFC Championship game since the 2009 season. Kamara certainly did his part in the contest putting together a strong outing topping 100 total scrimmage yards with 43 rushing yards along with 62 receiving yards on four catches and a touchdown.
This is something that will provide the Saints a little extra push to get back into the position of contending for a playoff spot in hopes of reaching Super Bowl 53. The front office has constructed a promising roster that will likely add more pieces to both sides of the ball in the offseason.
Their top priority in the offseason will be inking star quarterback Drew Brees to a new multi-year deal. Brees has already voiced that he doesn't plan on testing the free agent market and wants to return to the team if they want him back.
Meanwhile, Kamara will figure greatly in the Saints offensive game plan in his second year after a stellar rookie campaign in which he set the franchise rookie record with 1,554 scrimmage yards and 14 total touchdowns. He and Mark Ingram also became the first running back teammates in NFL history to each record at least 1,500 scrimmage yards in the same season while each earning Pro Bowl selections.
