The New Orleans Saints have gotten out to a strong start this season, currently boasting one of the best records in the league at 7-2 record through the first nine games. A major part of that has been the stellar play of rookie running back Alvin Kamara, who has become a dynamic dual-threat impact player in both the running and passing games.

According to Pro Football Reference, Kamara is currently only trailing former Los Angeles Raiders great Bo Jackson for most yards per carry by a rookie.

The 22-year-old has been a spark plug in the offense behind Mark Ingram ,as he has racked up 417 rushing yards on 64 carries with four rushing touchdowns. He is coming off his most effective performance as a rusher, garnering a career-high 106 yards on 12 carries in the Saints' convincing 47-10 win over the Buffalo Bills.

According to Dean185 on Reddit, his yards per carry is also among the most all-time among players who finished with at least 40 carries.

It's also the fourth best among all players since 1987 behind Darren Sproles 2011 (6.93), Kimble Anders 1995 (6.86) and Joseph Randle 2014 (6.73) (min 40 carries).

What has also been duly impressive is that he has been just as effective, if not more, as a receiver out of the backfield, racking up 42 catches for 373 and a pair of touchdowns. He has made a tremendous impact in the Saints' offense, making New Orleans not only one of the most dangerous offenses to play against, but also a more balanced attack.

If he continues to remain a huge factor in both aspects of the offense, it could play a huge part in making them a serious Super Bowl contender.
