The New Orleans Saints saw their 2017 season end in disappointing fashion last saw them lose on the final play of regulation against the Minnesota Vikings in the divisional round.
It had abruptly put a stop to their promising campaign that saw them become a juggernaut on both sides of the field that appeared to be poised to be a Super Bowl contender. According to __, Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara voiced that he believes had the Saint topped the Vikings they would have cruised past the Philadelphia Eagles.
There could be much credence to the Saints putting up a strong fight against the Eagles with how their team was comprised led by their explosive offense. New Orleans has a well-balanced attack led by their two-headed backfield with Pro Bowl running backs in Kamara and Mark Ingram, who became the first pair of teammates to both post over 1,000 scrimmage yards.
Although it saw star quarterback Drew Brees take a notable step back in his touchdown passes to just 23, he was still playing at an elite level throwing for 4,334 passing yards while holding a 103.9 passer rating. He had also stepped it up in the playoffs throwing for 604 passing yards with five touchdowns to three interceptions. This balanced attack could have posed a difficult change for the Eagles, who had narrowly gotten past the Atlanta Falcons in the divisional round.
Ultimately, this is revisionist history that the Saints could use as motivation to push forward in the 2018 campaign to put together another strong season toward reaching the Super Bowl where the Eagles could very well be a challenger along the way.
