Coming off a promising 2017 season, the New Orleans Saints have made moves to add to their potent offense that saw them add former Chicago Bears wide receiver Cameron Meredith to the mix.
Since his arrival, the Saints have continued to speak highly of him with eyes towards him making a full recovery from the torn ACL that he suffered last August. All of this has Josh Katzenstein of NOLA.com voicing that Meredith is the “best bet” to vie for the No.2 receiving option in the passing game behind Pro Bowler Michael Thomas next season.
Prior to the injury, Meredith had shown flashes that he could be a major asset in the passing game after putting together a career-best year in 2016 where he hauled in 66 catches for 888 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He has demonstrated that he has big-play ability while being a reliable option in the red zone due to his long frame and height.
Meredith has a chance to become one of the go-to options in the passing game for All-Pro quarterback Drew Brees that could see him put together a highly productive campaign next to Thomas to form a formidable receiving threat duo. The opportunity is there for the 25-year-old to bounce back in a major way in the 2018 campaign.
Ultimately, it will all hinge on his recovery from his injury as there is a chance for him to establish himself as one of the better young wide receivers in the league as a major part in the Saints' potent offense.
