Veteran quarterback Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints failed to gain control of a heavyweight Week 4 matchup which ultimately went to the way of the Green Bay Packers. The game ended on a 37-30 outcome and dropped the Saints to a 1-2 record to start the season.
Brees and running back Alvin Kamara both spoke to the media after the tough loss:
“We need to take a hard look at what we're doing and how we're doing and we need to be doing it better. There are obviously some things that need to be corrected for us to get back on the winning track,” the gunslinger said.
“We all gotta do more than what is being asked of us right now. Gotta correct the mistakes, little things, miscues, penalties. We've got to play smarter and better,” Kamara added.
The 20-year veteran led his team with a total of 288 passing yards on 29/36 passes completed along with three touchdowns. Meanwhile, the three-time Pro Bowl rusher racked up 139 receiving yards on 13 receptions with two scored touchdowns.
Despite their productivity on the field, the Packers turned out to be the better team all throughout the contest. After trailing in the first half, quarterback Aaron Rodgers took control of his offense and came out with a bevy of points in the second half of the game. The Week 3 victory preserved their unbeaten record in the early stages of the season.
The Saints will try their luck and aim to score their second victory as they visit the Detroit Lions on October 4.
