New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara's long-term future is still clouded in uncertainty. He is currently entering the fourth and final season of his rookie contract. He claimed back in April that he’d like to have a deal that allows him to remain in New Orleans beyond the coming season. However, Saints general manager Mickey Loomis stayed mum about the ball-carrier's contract negotiations.

According to the Pro Football Talk featured in NBC Sports:

On Tuesday, General Manager Mickey Loomis was asked about whether they’ve had talks about a new deal. Loomis said it’s “definite” that he’s not going to answer questions about any negotiations with Alvin Kamara's camp.

“Look, this is always a tough question,” Loomis said. “You guys always ask these questions about contracts. And I always say I don’t like discussing that. That’s really between the team and the player until we’re ready to announce something.”

From the onset, it would look like a no-brainer to re-sign a player who has gained 4,476 yards from scrimmage while scoring 37 touchdowns in three seasons. However, Kamara played while nursing knee and ankle injuries which caused him to miss two games last season. Though the former Tennessee Volunteer has declared himself back in full health heading into the upcoming season.

The 67th player selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft has already gone a long way in his young career thus far. Kamara has already earned a 2017 PFWA All-Rookie team selection, 2017 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, a second-team All-Pro selection, and three-straight Pro Bowl appearances.

Kamara is expected to have a strong campaign heading into 2020 with a lucrative paycheck on the line. A heavyweight clash will happen on Week 1 as the Saints host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 13. We'll definitely see Alvin Kamara try to show out from day 1.
