New Orleans Saints quarterback J.T. Barrett is entering this season fourth on the depth chart but his only focus right now is trying to get some reps up. Barrett participated in rookie minicamp last week with the team and was the main quarterback which was completely different than last year.

Last season he got the leftovers after Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgewater, and Taysom Hill got their snaps in, which didn't leave much for the former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback.

“This is good for me to get some reps under my belt,” Barrett said via theadvocate.com “Being the fourth quarterback last year, I didn't get the opportunity for those things. So for me, this is just about me getting reps, footwork and all the timing and stuff down.”

The problem for Barrett is he probably isn't going to get many more snaps once the season starts, if he is still on the roster. Hill, Brees, and Bridgewater are still on the roster so it's going to be hard for him to find time on the practice field. Barrett knows that might be an issue and he is just trying to stay patient.

“I would say patience,” Barrett said. “Just being able to be patient, yet still finding ways to grow. I wasn't always out there on the field all the time at practice. But there were weeks when I was, and I tried to take advantage of that time when I was out there.”

The best thing for Barrett to do is to try and learn as much as he can from the guys in front of him and implement it into his game, even if he isn't getting all the field work he would like.
