New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas went old school as he paid tribute to Joe Horn’s famous cellphone celebration against the Los Angeles Rams. The former Saints receiver was watching on Sunday and he was very appreciative of Thomas’ touching gesture.

“When I saw him bring out that cellphone it brought a tear to my eye,” Horn said per Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune. “For him to pay homage to me in that way, let me know what kind of man Michael Thomas is.”

Per Mike Triplett of ESPN, Horn says he didn't know the celebration was coming. He said he texted Thomas and “thanked him for doing what most athletes in his position would never do.”

That celebration was the cherry on top of a brilliant game for Thomas, who went off for 12 catches for 211 yards, which included a 72-yard touchdown that allowed him to take out his phone.

Without a doubt, Horn’s celebration has a place as one of the most memorable touchdown celebrations in history because of its sheer originality and audacity. Obviously, Thomas is a big fan, as he admitted post-game.

“I loved the celebration,” Thomas said per Kevin Patra of NFL.com. “I loved the swagger that he brought. I love how it got the crowd going. I definitely was thinking about it, but I'm happy I waited for that moment.”

It's been a while since anyone has thought about that terrific celebration, much less Horn. But Thomas' throwback has successfully brought the old-timer and his one unforgettable contribution to the game back into the public consciousness, and he obviously appreciates that very much.
