The fans of the New Orleans Saints believed they were given the short end of the stick by the refs in last year's NFC Championship game against the Los Angeles Rams. In Week 1 against the Houston Texans, there are plenty of fans wearing referee jerseys.

The gesture for the Saints fans wearing referee jerseys shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Since the completion of the NFC Championship game versus the Rams, New Orleans has complained about the no-call 24/7.

Of course, the no-call came when Drew Brees attempted a wheel route to Tommylee Lewis down the sideline. Prior to the ball arriving at Lewis, Nickell Robey-Coleman delivered an early hit to the wide receiver.

The crowd and everyone watching the game was expecting to see a yellow flag thrown by the referees. Instead, they swallowed their whistle and allowed the game to continue as if nothing out of the ordinary happened.

To the dismay of Saints fans, Los Angeles ended up victorious in overtime following an interception thrown by Brees. As a result of their loss, Sean Payton displayed his disgust for the no-call by lobbying for a rule to allow teams to challenge pass-interference calls.

After all of the teams voted on it, the NFL adopted a new rule that would allow head coaches to use a challenge on pass-interference penalties. New Orleans may have gotten the rule change approved that disallows the opportunity for referees to miss obvious pass-interference infractions.

Regardless, the fans in New Orleans will still be fathoming that loss in the 2018 NFC Championship game one-hundred years from now.
