The future remains uncertain for the New Orleans Saints when it comes to the quarterback position. Superstar gunslinger Drew Brees will hit NFL free agency during the offseason and a decision needs to be made in terms of the direction the team wants to go.

Although Brees has indicated a strong desire to remain in New Orleans for the rest of his career in the league, there's no guarantee that comes to fruition. New Orleans and Brees are expected to come to terms on a new deal, but head coach Sean Payton isn't ready to talk about the quarterback's future with the team, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

“Not right now,” Payton said when asked whether he would comment on the process relating to the future Hall of Famer’s return via a new contract. “So no. Politely, no.”

With the Saints having options in free agency at quarterback, New Orleans could ultimately decide it is time to move on from Brees. All indications appear to be pointing to another deal with the one-time Super Bowl champion, but younger options which may set the team up for the long-term at the position may prove intriguing for New Orleans.

Along with Brees hitting the open market, Kirk Cousins will be a very attractive option for teams looking to secure the position under center. Cousins is expected to be a hot commodity in free agency with teams like the Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, New York Giants, and Arizona Cardinals all looking for an upgrade at quarterback.

It'll be an interesting offseason around the NFL with some franchise-caliber quarterbacks like Brees and Cousins potentially changes teams.
