With teams like the Chicago Bears having kicking competitions, head coach Adam Gase isn't interested in doing the same for the New York Jets. Chandler Catanzaro is the starting kicker and he has already secured the position.

Despite the struggles, Chandler Catanzaro is locked into the kicker spot and Adam Gase is not looking for competition, per the New York Daily News. The Jets are underway at training camp but Catanzaro has yet to string together efficient practices.

Earlier this offseason, the Jets allowed Jason Myers to walk in free agency. In 2018, Myers was named to the Pro Bowl after having an impressive season with his leg with the Jets. Myers played with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2015-17.

The Jets' Pro Bowl kicker made five field goals that exceeded 55 yards in 2018, which is an NFL record. He also made 91.7% of his field-goal attempts, which tied a franchise record for the Jets.

Despite the success, New York didn't view re-signing their kicker as important and watched him leave for the Seattle Seahawks. Instead, the Jets brought in Catanzaro on a one-year deal with the team.

Although, Catanzaro has indeed struggled to kick the ball in the past few seasons. That includes last year, when he played for the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In Carolina, Catanzaro filled in for Graham Gano for a few weeks while making all five of his field goal attempts before joining the Buccaneers. Then, in Tampa Bay, he began to struggle, missing four of his field goal attempts and four of his extra-point attempts.

The Jets are expected to have an improved season in 2019 but their kicker position could become a problem if Catanzaro doesn't deliver.
