The New York Jets have been among the teams reportedly interested in acquiring Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown. It appears they have already started to make a move.

Brown will undoubtedly be the biggest prize this offseason. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, discussions have already begun:

The Antonio Brown sweepstakes roll on for the Steelers, as teams come in and out. The Broncos deemed it too rich. The #Jets enter the mix. The Raiders have been in it the whole time.

The update should come as no surprise. The Jets had been pegged as potential frontrunners to acquire Brown's services since he let it be known that he was ready to leave the Steelers. They will now have a chance to get negotiations started with Pittsburgh.

The move would certainly make sense for New York. Quarterback Sam Darnold is in dire need of a safety net at wide receiver. Brown would be an immediate solution as a five-time All-Pro.

Although the veteran has indicated that he would like to play with an elite quarterback, perhaps Darnold's talent could help alleviate his shortcomings.

Of course, there will be no shortage of interest in a player of Brown's caliber. The 2018 NFL season saw multiple teams receive lucrative compensation for their wideouts. Although teams may be hesitant to offer up too much in exchange for a 30-year-old receiver, Brown is still widely considered one of the best players at his position.

It will be interesting to see what the Jets will be willing to give up.
