The New York Jets are tittered around the .500 mark through much of the season with an opportunity to grab their fourth win on Week 7 with a matchup against the Chicago Bears.
New York will venture into the matchup without one of their key receiving threats with wideout Robby Anderson likely out for the contest after missing practice all week well due to ankle injury, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.
Article Continues BelowNew York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson is not expected to play Sunday after missing a full week of practice, meaning rookie quarterback Sam Darnold will be throwing to a receiving corps that has yet to score a touchdown this season.
Anderson had suffered the injury during last Sunday's 37-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He has been one of the primary options in the passing game for rookie quarterback Sam Darnold as the deep-ball threat with 17 catches for 314 receiving yards and three touchdowns. His ability to stretch the field with his speed and big-play ability has had a crucial element to the offense that has helped them move the ball down the field.
The anticipated absence of Anderson has further compounded some potential questions in the passing game as wide receiver Quincy Enunwa is still dealing with a high-ankle sprain that will force him to miss his second straight game. When healthy, Enunwa has been a highly reliable receiving option for Darnold this season as he has notched 22 catches for 287 receiving yards and a touchdown. Running back Bilal Powell is also out for the year with a neck injury.
With these two wideouts out of the mix for Sunday's game, New York will now rely upon Deontay Burnett, Jermaine Kearse, Andre Roberts, Charone Peake, and recently acquired Rishard Matthews. What may work in their favor is that the Bears have struggled defensively in the last two weeks giving up more than 30 points in each contest.
