New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold got quite the glowing endorsement recently from none other than Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller. The superstar pass rusher sang the rookie’s praises, saying he should’ve gone No. 1 overall in this year’s draft.
But while Darnold admits that such high praise from such a great player like Miller is certainly flattering, he’s too preoccupied busy to be concerned about what other people think of him.

I have a lot going on in my own life with football and everything, in terms of running the plays, executing, being on the same page with everyone on the offense. So there’s a lot going on in my world, I’m not too worried about what other people are saying. But when guys like that have high praise for me or they’re saying cool things, it’s obviously very flattering.”
Darnold does have other more important things on his mind besides other people’s praises. After a promising start to his career, Darnold has hit a bit of a rut over the last couple of weeks. He’s completed under 50 percent of his passes for just 336 total yards in his last two games as the Jets have spiraled to a three-game losing skid.
Darnold will now have to find a way to end his little rut against Miller and the Broncos defense on Sunday. And despite the Broncos pass rusher’s high opinion of the rookie, he will be doing his very best to keep Darnold and the Jets down.
