There will officially be no shutout. The New York Jets avoided what looked like a 30-plus-point margin of defeat at the hands of their AFC East Division rivals, the New England Patriots, by scoring on special teams.

A muffed punt on the hands of kick returner and receiver Gunner Olszewski was recovered by cornerback and special teams man Arthur Maulet in the end zone, breaking the Patriots' shutout.

The Jets are currently 0-2 on the season—on their way to 0-3—under first-year head coach Adam Gase, who came into the organization promising a revised offensive scheme. So far, however, things haven't gone Gase's way.

Franchise quarterback Sam Darnold, entering his second year, looked average in Week 1 and has since been afflicted with mono. Backup quarterback Trevor Siemian was injured last week against the Cleveland Browns, prompting Gase and New York to play former practice-squad QB Luke Falk, the 199th pick in the 2019 draft by the Tennessee Titans.

James White is away from the New England roster due to paternity leave, but the Patriots are cruising to another win against the Jets.
