Tom Brady is nearing yet another milestone in his legendary career. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback will enter the 2021 NFL season needing just a little over 1,000 passing yards to break the league's all-time record that's currently owned by former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. Sharp Football Analysis has Brady surpassing Brees in Week 4 against his old team, the New England Patriots coached by Bill Belichick.

Barring any crazy developments, Tom Brady ascending to the top of the all-time passing yards in the NFL is a virtual lock. Brees can no longer add to his own total as he's already retired, a decision he took quite some time to announce officially but also after getting eliminated last season in the NFC Divisional Round.

Tom Brady passed for a total of 4,633 yards and 40 touchdowns against 12 interceptions on 65.7 completion percentage in 2020. It's worth mentioning that by the time Brady breaks the record, it would have taken him more games than Brees did to get all those yards.

It's probably going to be a bittersweet moment for Brady, Bill Belichick, and Patriots fans if Gisele Bündchen's husband does indeed break Brees' record in Foxboro, the place where the quarterback started his pro career. It would have been more nostalgic if Brady would be setting the new record in Patriots threads. At the same time, at least New England fans have the chance of seeing Brady make those record-breaking passing yards right in front of them.

In the 20 years he played for Belichick's Patriots, Brady amassed totals of 7,4571 passing yards, 541 passing touchdowns, and 179 picks. And of course, Brady was also under center for the Patriots when he led them to six Super Bowl titles before winning his seventh with the Buccaneers last season.

Tom Brady can start collecting yards again in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys.
