Wide receivers are the most fickle position in all of fantasy football. You can typically count on your running backs to not blank you, and even tight ends are good for at least a couple of points per week. Receivers, however, are not.
For example, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett put up a goose egg in a good matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Tampa Bay Buccaneers pass-catcher Mike Evans was blanked earlier in the year against the New Orleans Saints. It's easy to make a mistake and get bitten by it, but it's just as easy to get bitten by a boom-or-bust receiver. This week, three guys can easily make you pay for starting them in fantasy football.
1) Tyrell Williams, Oakland Raiders
This one was low hanging fruit. The Oakland offense has been abysmal of late, with Derek Carr being momentarily benched against the New York Jets. It takes a seriously bad performance to get benched against the Jets, and that's what Carr delivered.
In response, Williams has delivered his series of stinkers. He has failed to surpass four points in any format over the last two games. Williams belongs on your bench for this matchup with a half-decent Tennessee Titans pass defense.
2) DJ Chark, Jacksonville Jaguars
Chark has been one of the year's biggest breakout players. Unfortunately for Chark, he has the displeasure of facing the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14. That may not sound too intimidating, but the Chargers have been fourth-best against receivers in regards to fantasy.
Another concerning factor for Chark is the quarterback change. Jags head coach Doug Marrone has already announced that sixth-round rookie/America's heartthrob will draw the start Sunday. While Chark has found production with both Minshew and Nick Foles, constant change remains to be something worth giving pause for.
With the quarterback change and an awful matchup, this week is prime time for Chark to hit the pine.
3) Stefon Diggs, Minnesota Vikings
Diggs had a prime matchup in Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks and failed to capitalize. This week, Diggs has an even easier matchup, at least in theory.
The Vikings face the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Lions field the 30th-ranked pass defense, but they also have Darius Slay, a back-to-back Pro Bowler and a man-coverage ace. Slay always follows the opposing team's best receiver around the field, and that's Diggs. The Maryland product should definitely be in your lineup this week, but expectations shouldn't be high.
