With the 2018 NFL Draft just around the corner, there are a number of prospects that have placed their bid as one of its best players. Among them is former Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen.
Allen turned heads at the Scouting Combine with a dazzling display of arm strength. However, he made it clear that he wanted to show off his accuracy and footwork as well at Wyoming's Pro Day, according to Lindsay Jones of USA Today:
“Show the accuracy, show the touch and show the footwork that we’ve been working on. I think we came out here and we did that,” Allen said.
Allen’s private quarterbacks coach Jordan Palmer elaborated on what the potential top-5 pick has worked on this offseason.

I want to show [that] it’s not a wild fastball; it’s a consistent fastball… But more importantly, I want to show that a lot of times guys that have big arms . . . have a hard time controlling it, and taking tempo off of the ball, and layering it and really controlling it. We put him in some situations today where he can really show that control and that touch.”
Allen possesses the prototypical size and arm strength of an NFL quarterback. However, he has been projected as perhaps the third or fourth-best quarterback prospect behind USC's Sam Darnold and UCLA's Josh Rosen, both of whom have been touted as the more pure passers.
Allen struggled with his accuracy in college with a 56.2 career completion percentage. Although he managed to somewhat make up for it with a stellar pro day, it still remains to be seen whether or not he is the first quarterback taken in the draft. Allen has already worked out for the Buffalo Bills and is also expected to visit with the New York Jets.
