The Super Bowl is almost upon us, and the NFL is starting to tighten up their security. However, one of the bigger things that they have to be worried about include keeping their social media accounts safe and sound.

According to The Business Journal, NFL officials confirmed an attack by the hackers to take control of the league's social media pages. The pages of Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, and Chicago Bears were all targeted in the attack.

The cybersecurity department took notice of a breach to one of their accounts. After addressing the breach and doing a sweep of the other pages, they found out that there were also failed attempts on the league's other pages as well as other teams in the league.

As a countermeasure to the attacks, the league office told teams to beef up their cybersecurity and do regular checks of their networks. Making sure that no breaches happen ahead of the finale to the league's 100th season is of the utmost importance.

The league assured the fans that everything is going smoothly on their end.

“We continue to work diligently with the teams, which have resumed normal operations,” the NFL said in a statement.

It's important that the NFL tightens their defenses against cyberattacks. Not only does the breach endanger the security of the league and the teams, but it also puts the league's image in danger. If the hackers manage to break through the NFL's firewalls, they could post dangerous messages that would alarm plenty of people in the league.

Making sure this doesn't happen must be the priority of the NFL. By doing so, they will be securing their future.
