There are a number of promising cornerback prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft. Georgia's DeAndre Baker is confident he tops them all.

Baker has made some waves throughout the draft process. According to Charles Odum of the Associated Press, he is confident that the best this class has to offer:

“I know I’m the best cornerback in the draft,” Baker said. “I don’t just believe it, I know I’m the best.”

“My film speaks for itself,” he said. “My stats, everything. My production, week in and week out. You go back to 2017 or the first day I started I was the best cornerback in the nation.”

Baker's confidence is understandable. There are very few cornerbacks in this year's draft that boast the kind of resume he does. He finished the 2018 campaign with two interceptions and 12 pass deflections en route to first-team All-SEC and All-American honors. He was also given the Jim Thorpe Award, which is given annually to the top cornerback in the nation.

More importantly, Baker has followed up his impressive college career with some solid numbers at the Scouting Combine as well as his pro day. Although his sub-4.5 speed pales in comparison to some of the other speedsters at his position, his status as a potential shutdown corner has seemingly solidified his status as a bonafide first-rounder. Regardless, he has made it clear that he would like to be the first cornerback taken in the draft. It will be interesting to see whether or not teams feel the same way Baker does.
