Former Georgia outside linebacker Adam Anderson has been charged with the rape of 21-year-old woman in Athens, Georgia months before the NFL Draft.
Anderson was arrested in November two weeks after the incident with the woman on October 29, 2021. Georgia had suspended the linebacker indefinitely since the allegations were made. He was projected as a potential first-rounder in the NFL Draft.
The woman was reportedly at the same house as Adam Anderson on October 29th in between midnight and 7 a.m. and had been woken up by Anderson raping her.

“Adam respectfully reminds the public and his supporters that he was not permitted by law to participate in the grand jury proceeding, which is totally under the control of the prosecution,” the former NFL Draft prospect's attorney, Steve Sadow, said in a statement to ESPN. “This means his defense was not presented or argued to the grand jurors. Adam will plead not guilty to the charge and continue his fight in court to clear his name and reputation. Adam once again appeals to the good citizens of Athens-Clarke County to keep an open mind and not prejudge his case.”
Anderson played in Georgia's 34-7 win over Florida just a day later before the news of the incident was made aware to the team.
