Oklahoma University quarterback Kyler Murray had an unbelievable junior season, so much so that he was awarded the Heisman Trophy for his efforts and has since declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.
Although it's uncertain exactly where Murray will land in the draft, so far some teams that could draft Murray are the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, and Miami Dolphins. These are all teams that are undoubtedly looking for a new starting quarterback, either immediately or in the near future.
Murray was fantastic in his Heisman winning season and lead in nearly every statistical category. Murray's touchdown to interception ratio was second amongst quarterbacks with 6.0 only second to Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins. The former Oklahoma Sooner was first in touchdown percentage with 11.1, and his passing yards per attempt were also first amongst quarterbacks with 11.6. Murray's rushing yards were first amongst quarterbacks as well as he ran for 1,001 yards.
Article Continues BelowIf Murray goes in the top 10, it's technically considered a big risk due to his ties to his baseball career, but the upside he possesses is undeniable. Murray is easily a first overall pick type of talent, but it just so happens that none of the teams within the top four really need a quarterback. The first few picks in mock drafts are so far dominated by defensive players.
If a team wants Murray enough, it's possible a team trades up to get him, as the Chicago Bears did a couple of seasons ago with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Murray will have a very bright future in the league, and it's highly likely he will make an instant impact in the 2019 season.
