Former Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver and 2019 NFL Draft prospect Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has been selected by the Baltimore Ravens, becoming the No. 25 pick off the board.
Widely considered the top wide receiver in this year's group, Brown was often compared to Ole Miss Rebels pass catchers D.K. Metcalf and A.J. Brown. He was ultimately selected ahead of the other two.
Brown is notably related to former Pittsburgh Steelers and current Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown, who is his cousin.
“[Brown] is a skinny, but speedy receiver with game-breaking potential on every snap,” reads Brown's 2019 NFL Draft profile on NFL.com.
“His ability to race past cornerbacks and separate deep will require specific coverage and safeties ready to help. His thin frame is a liability when faced with contested catches both short and deep, and long-term durability is a legitimate concern. However, his ability to threaten deep with long speed and short as an elite run-after-catch talent gives him a chance to become the most impactful wideout in this draft.”
Despite standing at just 5-9 while weighing under 170 pounds, the former Oklahoma standout was always expected to come off the 2019 NFL Draft board sooner rather than later. Drawing comparisons to current Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson, Marquise Brown possesses a similar playmaking ability while being more than capable of making things happen way downfield.
If “Hollywood” becomes even half the player his cousin has become, Ravens fans are in store for many highlight-reel plays.
