Although the NFL Scouting Combine gives players the opportunity increase their draft stock each year, the annual event always brings along some trimuph as well.
This time around, former Ohio State Buckeyes cornerback and current 2019 NFL Draft prospect Kendall Sheffield suffered what appears to be a significant pectoral injury during his bench pressing session.
According to a Sunday afternoon report from Eric Edholm, Sheffield unfortunately sustained a torn left pectoral muscle somewhere around his sixth or seventh repetition on the bench press, which of course carries 225 pounds worth of weight.
Obviously, Sheffield's 2019 NFL Draft stock could be seriously affected by such a setback as a torn muscle of any kind could lead to quite the lengthy and tumultuous road back to full health.

“Sheffield has the twitch for ball production underneath and the long speed to handle vertical workers, but his inconsistency to find and play the football once it comes out of the quarterback's hands is problematic. Relative to his fluctuating career, his ceiling is fairly high thanks to his speed and explosiveness, but he needs to prove he’s more than just a fast guy.”
It is also worth noting that former Ohio State Buckeyes center and current Cincinnati Bengals interior offensive lineman Billy Price suffered an eerily similar injury at last year's NFL Scouting Combine.
Price was ultimately selected by the Bengals in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
