Roger Goodell and the NFL released a video this past week condemning racism and apologizing for the league's failure to listen to the players that voiced their frustration on racial issues in previous seasons. While some players applauded Goodell for his stance, Carlos Hyde is pushing for Colin Kaepernick to be signed after Goodell's statement.

Back in 2016, Colin Kaepernick was the starting quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers. Given his platform, Kaepernick decided to kneel during the National Anthem.

At the same time, the dual-threat quarterback began speaking out against the racial injustices occurring in today's society. However, the NFL sadly took a stand against what Kaepernick was peacefully protesting. As a result, Colin Kaepernick was blackballed by the league and has been out of a job since 2016.

As for Hyde, he played alongside Colin Kaepernick with the 49ers when he was with the team from 2014-2016. Therefore, the veteran running back got a chance to witness how passionate he was on and off the field.

In response to the recent death of George Floyd in police custody, players around the NFL gathered together to create a video directed toward Goodell and the NFL. Within the video, the players informed Goodell to condemn racism and apologize for how the league handled players, such as Colin Kaepernick, speaking out against racial injustices.

Just a day later, the commissioner of the NFL obliged, posting a video doing what the players asked of him. Furthermore, he proceeded to give players the go-ahead to peacefully protest in 2020. This was surprising given his stance on the matter in 2016.

For the most part, the statement by Goodell was welcomed by players around the NFL. But for Hyde, he wants the commissioner to put actions to his words by having Colin Kaepernick return to the league.
