Colin Kaepernick hasn't played a snap in the NFL in two seasons but according to Michael Smith of Pro Football Talk, his supporters are making a push to get the former Pro Bowler back into the Pro Bowl.

The NFL has opened up a new way of voting this year which makes it possible that Kaepernick could receive enough votes. The voting for the Pro Bowl is now done on Twitter using the hashtag #ProBowlVote.

The big question is what will the NFL do if he does receive enough votes to make him eligible to get a spot in the Pro Bowl. They could say that since he's not on an NFL roster he is not eligible, but if the NFL did allow him to play it wouldn't be the first time a major spot allowed someone not on a roster to compete. Magic Johnson was retired when he was voted in and competed in the 1992 All-Star Game. He also came away with the MVP award.

Allowing Kaepernick to compete would probably be the right move for the NFL and might settle down some of the talks about Kaepernick being blackmailed by the league.

Kaepernick and the NFL are still in the middle of sorting out a grievance that was filed by Kaepernick saying the league was keeping him out of the game. There is a hearing set by early next year for that case and letting him play in this game could also look good for the NFL in that case.
