Johnny Canada? It does have a solid ring to it, ladies and gentlemen, and could become a reality if Plan A with the big boys doesn't materialize.
On Tuesday, Johnny Manziel announced that he'll take his talents to the CFL, the Canadian Football League, should none of the 32 NFL organizations take a chance on him, via Sam Khan Jr. of ESPN.
“I’ve blocked it off,” Manziel said, via ESPN,com. “I can’t do anything, I can’t stress about it, all I can do is make sure I’m where I need to be. … All I can do is block it off. If something [with the NFL] pops up, it pops up. And if not, if I don’t get the opportunity to go back, I’m going to go play in the CFL, and things are going to be fine. One way or another, one day down the line, I’ll get back to exactly where I want to be, because I’m not going to stop until I do.”
Unlike previous claims of comeback glory, this time around feels different as it pertains to Johnny Manziel and football. Oftentimes “feel” and “reality” can be confused, but thus far, the kid's made every right decision since his big announcement of football 100 percent of the time, all the time.
Article Continues BelowAs the No. 22 pick to the Cleveland Browns four years ago, Manziel's limited NFL action can honestly be tossed aside. Playing with a terrible team and under awful personal circumstances, there isn't much that can be learned from his short Land stint.
Recent reports have several teams at least looking into Manziel, New England Patriots included.
In any event, it's a terrific sign that he's willing to travel north of the border and, essentially, do whatever it takes to get back to playing with the big boys. Johnn Manziel continues to do and say all the right things this time around.
