The NFL just went through a COVID-19 ravaged 2021 season where tons of players were sidelined at various times due to the virus. Well, as the world slowly moves towards the “endemic”, the league is doing the same.

On Thursday, the NFL and NFLPA have agreed to sever all COVID-19 rules for the 2022 campaign. Via Adam Schefter:

As noted in the statement, testing won't be done on a weekly basis anymore. The only reason a team member will be tested is if they're showing any serious symptoms. That being said, there are still going to be players in the NFL who catch COVID-19. After all, the virus isn't going anywhere, but essentially, we're just learning to live with it at this point. The NFL previously took the necessary steps to eliminate the guidelines altogether when they stopped doing weekly testing, then announced daily tests would be axed as well for unvaccinated players unless they showed symptoms.

But, it does now feel like there is some sort of normality in the world given the league dropping these rules now. After almost two years, the NFL can go on without any disruptions, and hopefully, by the time next season begins, the United States will have COVID-19 under even more control.
