Former Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome wants to see more minority coaches in high positions in the NFL. Back in January Commissioner Roger Goodell tried to shrug off minority coaches not getting hired and made it clear there wasn't a problem across the NFL.
Only one minority coach has been hired in the last eight job openings, but Goodell said that one cycle can't dictate if the Rooney Rule is working or not.
This past week the league and the Black College Hall of Fame brought leaders together for Quarterback Coaching Summit at Morehouse College and Newsome has a different idea about the direction of the NFL.

NFL executive president of football operations Troy Vincent thinks one of the big reasons is how people look at different coaches. It's a lot easier to sell a losing white coach than it is to sell an average or a good black coach.
“We can sell a non-winning white coach, but we struggle to sell a winning black coach,” Vincent said. “But I’m not looking in the rearview mirror.”We’re looking forward. It’s about purpose over position. We’re just asking for a fair process and opportunity.”
Newsome and Vincent are two of the more respected guys in the league so maybe they are the guys who can help get a chance in the NFL.
