While training camp may be in full swing, the NFL has taken another step toward managing the restrictions of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the league has lifted their ban on player tryouts:

The NFL just informed clubs the prohibition on tryouts has been lifted immediately, per source.

This is certainly a big step for free agents still gauging their options on the market. heading into the 2020 NFL season after teams were prohibited from bringing players in to their facility since the pandemic started.

Players will likely have to undergo some sort of screening process before they are allowed into the facilities for a tryout. After all, teams were forced to conduct a 72-hour screening and had players produce multiple negative tests before they were cleared to take part in training camp. Meanwhile, teams like the Dallas Cowboys have seen their players come up with their own virtual bubble before on-field practices.

There are still a number of household names looking to sign including a couple of star edge rushers in Jadeveon Clowney and Everson Griffen. While their holdout could be attributed to their desire for a lucrative deal, the memo should at least offer up more freedom when it comes to exploring their potential landing spots.

The fact that the NFL is easing up its restrictions indicates that their safety protocols have gone according to plan up to this point. It will be interesting to see which free agent is the first to benefit from it.
