Veteran NFL wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner Ted Ginn Jr. has announced that he has no plans to retire heading into the 2020 NFL season.
Despite not being re-signed by the New Orleans Saints, where the 35-year-old has spent the past three seasons, Ginn believes he’s “still got a few more years left” in him.
While his numbers have dipped over the past few seasons as age catches up to him, Ginn did start nine out of his team’s 16 games last season – a year in which the Saints went 13-3 en route to yet another impressive NFL regular season.
Ginn, however, believes he still has gas left in the tank in order to pad his already impressive resume.
Although it seems unlikely that the former No.9 overall pick in the 2007 draft will be able to improve upon his sterling kick and punt return numbers, Ginn is currently 25th all-time in All-Purpose yards, which include rushing, receiving and return yards.
Of course, Ginn’s early years in the NFL – most notably his first five seasons spent with the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco Giants – were highlighted by astonishing foot-speed and lightning-fast reflexes as a prolific kick and punt returner.
As such, Ted Ginn Jr. is currently top-25 in NFL history in a wide range of return-based statistics: kick return yards (6899, 15th), yards per kick return (22.5, 12th), total kick returns (307, 11th), punt return yards (2600, 20th), punt return touchdowns (4, 21st) and combined kick and punt return yards (9499, 11th).
