Roger Goodell and the NFL released a video on Friday, apologizing for not listening to players sooner when it came to racial issues. While Goodell's video was widely applauded, some owners in the NFL were surprised by his response to players.
Just a day before Goodell's response, there was a group of NFL players that made a video to the commissioner. Throughout the video, the players informed Goodell to condemn racism and apologize for the league's prior negligence of racial issues. It was revealed that an NFL employee went rogue to conduct the video that the players created.
Now, it appears that Goodell went rogue before deciding to release the video where he condemned racism. Even though he communicated the idea to some owners, others were left in the dark.
Of course, Goodell reportedly spoke to the owners that carry the most weight within the league. Therefore, the notion that Goodell completely went out on a limb can be eradicated.

Also, the NFL has to be concerned with how Jerry Jones will handle the choice made by the NFL. Back in 2016, Jones was among the owners that believed his players should always stand for the National Anthem.
As a result of everything taking place, veteran Adrian Peterson revealed that he'll be taking a knee during the anthem in 2020. In the event that other plays join him, it will be interesting to see how the NFL handles it this time around.
