The Carolina Panthers are in a state of flux this season, and they're looking for the right man to lead them back to relevance this season. They feel that Baylor coach Matt Rhule could be the man for the job as they offered him an invitation to interview with their team this week.

Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams reported that the architect of the first back-to-back 10-win seasons for the Temple Owls would be given a chance to take a shot at the professional leagues.

Matt Rhule said last week he plans to remain in Waco as Baylor’s head coach, but plans change.

Rhule turned down an interview opportunity with the Browns. He will meet with the Panthers and the Giants.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL reports that the Panthers will meet with Rhule on Monday and the Giants will interview Rhule on Tuesday.

Rhule has considerable pedigree as a football coach. Not only has he helped Temple achieve something that was first thought to be impossible for the team, but he also helped Baylor become a better football team. In the recently concluded 2019 college football season, he helped the Bears become the eighth-best program in the country. While they lost the Sugar Bowl to Georgia, he helped the program become relevant again.

He's a decent offensive mind that can help the Panthers build an exciting offense that could win them games. However, they have tough rivals for his services in the New York Giants. New York have the edge over the Panthers as he's spent time with the team as an offensive line coach. Carolina would have to pull all the stops if they are serious about getting him.
