The first two picks of the upcoming NFL Draft are fairly universally agreed upon by most draft experts. After LSU quarterback Joe Burrow who is expected to go first overall to the Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio State defensive end Chase Young is projected to be next in line — going to the Washington Redskins.

With that said, as a Maryland native, Young is prepared to possibly play for his hometown team.

“It would definitely be an honor to play at home,” Chase Young said on playing for the Redskins, via Scott Abraham of ABC7.

“Not a lot of people get the opportunity to play for their hometown football team. God-willing He gives me the chance to do it. Like any team I’d go to, I’m going to be the best player I can be. It would definitely be a great experience closer to home. It would definitely be real good.”

Young grew up in Hyattsville, Maryland and played his high school ball at DeMatha Catholic — just 20 minutes from FedEx Field.

In his junior year at Ohio State, the 6-foot-5, 265-pound pass-rusher was one of the most dominant players in all of college football. Despite playing only 12 games, Young put up 46 tackles, 21.0 tackles for a loss, seven forced fumbles and three pass deflections while helping lead the Buckeyes to the College Football Playoff.

If drafted by Washington, Young would join a young Redskins defense that ranked 10th in the NFL last year with 46 sacks but struggled to keep opponents out of the endzone after surrendering 27.2 points per game — one of the worst marks in the league.
