Two days after the San Francisco 49ers released him, linebacker Reuben Foster has seemingly found a new employer again. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Washington Redskins have claimed Foster off waivers on Tuesday, thus immediately resuscitating the player’s career.

The 49ers were forced to cut ties with the second-year pro after Foster was arrested over a domestic violation charge in Tampa last Saturday. Foster was alleged by a woman of physically pushing and slapping her in the face at the hotel where the 49ers stayed before Sunday’s road game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It’s also worth noting that the woman accusing Foster is reportedly the same ex-girlfriend who blamed him for a separate domestic violence abuse allegation earlier this year that she later retracted, per Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA TODAY Sports.
The Redskins have already released a statement about their move to claim Foster, maintaining that they would never stand up for anyone proven to have physically harmed a woman, which, as of this writing, Foster hasn’t.
“Today we have claimed the rights to LB Reuben Foster,” Redskins senior vice president of player personnel Doug Williams said in a statement. “The Redskins fully understand the severity of the recent allegations made against Reuben. If true, you can be sure these allegations are nothing our organization would ever condone.
Foster was selected by the 49ers in last year’s draft as the 31st pick in the first round and signed him to a four-year deal worth $9.035 million in 2017.
