With Dwayne Haskins now a member of the Washington Redskins, he is already drawing comparisons to NFL legend Joe Theismann. However, it remains to be seen as to whether the legendary quarterback allows Haskins to become the Redskins' latest No. 7

Haskins recently commented on the situation; Theismann appears to be on board as well.

The Redskins — despite not trading up — were able to land Dwayne Haskins with the No. 15 pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

“Big and talented with explosive arm talent but limited mobility Haskins is a chance-taker with the arm strength to get away with some tight window throws that most in this class can't make,” reads his 2019 NFL Draft profile on NFL.com.

“Haskins is still very early in his journey and is prone to misreading coverage and stalling in getting through his progressions. While this is normal for an inexperienced quarterback, Haskins is going to be forced to learn on the fly against NFL speed and defensive coordinators conspiring to defeat him. His athletic limitations could keep him pocket-bound, but he has the arm talent, confidence and pocket savvy to become a good NFL starter if he's protected and given the time to develop early on.”

Originally thought to be the second quarterback off the board, Dwayne Haskins ultimately fell to Washington. The Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants selected Kyler Murray and Daniel Jones, respectively.

Haskins had to endure the emotional impact and national scrutiny of falling several places lower on the draft board than most people expected. He will have a point to prove when he takes the field for the first time as an NFL quarterback.

Joe Theismann will be rooting for him.
