The Washington Redskins saw their playoff chances take another hit on Monday night after falling 28-13 to the Philadelphia Eagles.
However, there is more concern beyond that with their quarterback situation with backup Colt McCoy now being out for the season with a broken leg. That leaves recently signed Mark Sanchez as the only available quarterback on the roster. With that in mind, head coach Jay Gruden has indicated that the team has discussed possibly bringing in Colin Kaepernick, according to Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan.

This isn't the first time that Kaepernick's name has been brought up around the league as a possible addition, but the Redskins could become a realistic landing spot for the quarterback at this point.
The team is without its top two quarterbacks in starter Alex Smith and McCoy for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, Sanchez has shown to have limited effectiveness throwing the ball throughout his career.
The Redskins could very well continue to roll with Sanchez, but the possible addition of Kaepernick would provide them with a quarterback that could make more of an impact on the field with his arm and legs.
Granted, he hasn't played in the NFL since the 2016 campaign, but he has continued to stay in shape and ready to go for the next opportunity to play over the last year.
What makes this situation much more intriguing is that the Redskins are still in the thick of the playoff race despite three straight losses, currently sitting a game out of the final Wild Card spot. Washington is also in play for the NFC East depending on how things shake out with both the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys over the last month of the season.
Ultimately, this is certainly something to keep a close eye on over the next few days.
