The Washington Redskins' quarterback situation is in flux. With Alex Smith likely out for next season due to a gruesome broken leg injury he suffered back in Week 11 of the 2018 campaign, the Redskins' starting signal-caller is currently Colt McCoy.

That's probably not going to get the job done.

NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks thinks that Washington really needs to draft a quarterback next month:

“I can see them taking safety, I can see them take a legitimate playmaker at wide receiver,” Brooks said, according to Adam Dreyfuss of the Redskins' official team website. “But I think for the money, where they’re at, it’s time for them to take a quarterback.”

The Redskins lost Kirk Cousins to free agency last offseason but quickly moved on Smith, trading a third-round draft pick to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for his services. Washington then proceeded to sign Smith to a four-year, $94 million contract extension in a move that raised plenty of eyebrows.

Due to Smith's injury, the Redskins find themselves in need of a quarterback yet again, but with the 15th overall pick in the first round, most of the top quarterback prospects might be off the board by the time Washington gets to choose.

“Dwayne Haskins and Kyler Murray are the two ones that I say slam-dunks when it comes to quarterback,” Brooks said. “After that Drew Lock and Daniel Jones, the conversation is split and mixed on them. With Drew Lock, you’re talking about a talented player a guy who has that Matt Stafford like talent, but he’s not as polished and he hasn’t been as productive throughout his career. Daniel Jones was an unheralded prospect coming in to college, kind of still flies under the radar. Dual-threat, tons of production, doesn’t have a big arm but is very similar to what Alex Smith was.”

It seems safe to say that Haskins and Murray will be gone by that point.
