The Washington Redskins have not had left tackle Trent Williams all season long. That is due to a hold out in which Williams made it pretty clear he did not want to play for Washington anymore.
However, the trade deadline has come and gone and Williams is still on the Redskins. Due to that, he might have to figure it out with them if he wants to see the field anytime soon.
With that in mind, Williams has indeed reported. He is back in the building, but that doesn't mean he's playing.
#Redskins LT Trent Williams is in the building again today, but still not practicing as the team works through his helmet issue, I'm told. The wait continues …

This could be an actual issue with a helmet. However, it could also be a stalling tactic. As mentioned before, Williams has made it abundantly clear that he does not want to be in Washington anymore.
He could be reporting so that this counts as a year in his contract. If he had not, the Redskins could have tried to add another year on to his contract.
Article Continues BelowNow that he has reported though, it will be much harder for the Redskins to get that extra year tacked on.
Williams is one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL. Due to that, you should expect Washington to try and persuade him to play, especially with rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins possibly making his first career start in Week 9.
If Haskins becomes the Redskins' starter for the rest of the year, they will want to give him the best possible protection. It doesn't get much better than Williams.
However, it is pretty clear that Williams won't be playing in Week 9. Maybe the “helmet issue” will be resolved in the future though.
