The Washington Redskins have placed offensive tackle Trent Williams on the trading block, and according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, they are holding out for a first-round draft pick.

Pelissero states that the Redskins are telling teams that they have a second-round offer on the table.

Washington has until the 4 p.m. ET trading deadline on Tuesday to move Williams.

This is not the first time we have heard trade talk swirling around Williams.

Over the summer, the New England Patriots were rumored to have interest in the lineman and reportedly offered a first-round pick for him, but were turned down by the Redskins.

Of course, we have no way of knowing whether or not that's true, but if it were, Washington is probably hoping it would have just accepted that offer when it had the chance.

The Redskins were obviously never going to be contending for anything going into this season, and with the franchise entering rebuilding mode, you would have thought that they would have been more amenable to moving a 31-year-old tackle for a first-rounder.

Nevertheless, Washington has just under 24 hours to make a move on Williams if it wants to, and if it does ultimately trade him, someone will be acquiring a terrific player.

Since entering the NFL as a fourth-overall pick of the Redskins in 2010, Williams has made seven Pro Bowl appearances, with all of them coming over the last seven years.

Meanwhile, Washington is just 1-7 and is clearly eons away from being relevant in the NFC.
