The Washington Redskins are reportedly in the midst of addressing the void quarterback Alex Smith left behind after last season's horrific leg injury. The Redskins have acquired Case Keenum from the Denver Broncos.

Keenum disappointed last season with the Broncos, but far exceeded expectations the season prior with the Minnesota Vikings. The Broncos recently made a trade in which they acquired long-time Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, so the move to trade Keenum isn't all that surprising.

Unfortunately for Keenum, he can't seem to find a team that will fully commit to him, but it's likely he could be the quarterback for Washington for the entire season in 2019. Keenum could be the future quarterback for the team even longer pending Smith's health going forward.

The Redskins need playmakers as well as a quarterback, so it'll be interesting to see if the team gets their quarterback some help this offseason. Washington is in desperate need of pass catchers considering the lack of reliable receivers on the current roster. There are a few they can target in free agency or the draft.

Keenum will presumably take over the starting job from McCoy, who would still be a quality backup. Washington has also been rumored to be interested in drafting a quarterback. McCoy played several games last season, but left a lot to be desired at times, so it's going to be interesting to keep a watchful eye on the situation.
