The New England Patriots have racked up a few more early-round selections in this year's draft that has put them in the position to add some promising young talent. It is a unique spot that the front office has put themselves in following a third Super Bowl appearance in the last four years.

One of the areas of need is addressing their backfield situation following the departure of running back Dion Lewis in free agency for the Tennessee Titans on a four-year, $19.8 million deal. According to Jon Ledyard of FanRag Sports, the Patriots have reportedly brought in former LSU running back Derrius Guice for a visit.

Guice is regarded as being one of the top running back in this year's draft that could be a first-round selection. The 20-year-old did struggle to stay healthy throughout his three-year collegiate career but has shown the ability to be a game-changer in the running game. He could more than fill the void left by Lewis in that regard that could potentially work himself into the lead back role with the team while both Rex Burkhead and James White can offset him in passing situations.

The Patriots currently hold two first-round picks at the 23rd and 31st overall spots and in the second round at the 43rd selection. The team could one of these three selections to possibly take the former LSU product in this year's draft. There has been much speculation that New England is planning on taking a quarterback in the first two rounds that could see them package a couple of the selections in order to move up in the draft order to do so to snag one of the top players at the position.

Nonetheless, the decision to bring in Guice for a visit makes him a possible choice at one of their early-round picks later this month.
